Notes from the Apiary Ep2 — Feeling Super

A quiet look inside the hive at the start of summer.

Welcome back to Notes from the Apiary.

This is a slow, seasonal glimpse into the life of our bees as the year unfolds. Less of a how-to, and more a meander through the rhythms of the hive, filmed and shared as we go. There’s something quietly magical about life inside the hive, and it’s a real joy to follow their rhythms through the seasons, the way they move in time with the world around them. This series is my way of sharing some of that wonder as it unfolds.

The past couple of weeks have been glorious: warm days, still evenings, and the kind of light that drenches everything in a honeyed glow. I headed up to the hives late last week, past the plum trees and into the clearing where they sit. There’s such peace to it, the steady rhythm of bees returning from their forage, legs heavy with pollen, wings catching the light. I could honestly stand there and watch for hours as they diligently hum back and forth. It’s wonderfully calming.
