Welcome to our first few scribbles of notes from the apiary!
There’s something quietly magical about beekeeping — a way it draws you in, slows you down, and roots you deeply in the natural flow of the seasons. You start noticing the small things: what’s in flower, what’s which blossom is emerging, how the days are gently lengthening or turning.
That’s why we’ve created this new series here on Substack, just for our paid subscribers — to share some of that behind-the-scenes life in the apiary. These little updates will offer a peek inside the hive, a look at what the bees are up to, and an explanation of how I’m ‘managing’ the hive the way I am as the year unfolds.
Every few weeks, you’ll get these quiet check-ins, following the hive as it grows, adapts to the season, and (hopefully!) give us a honey harvest by August, before we start preparing them for winter.
