Celebrating the shift towards Spring...

I’m renaming this as the month of hope. We’ve spent the last few days in beautiful Cornwall, which might have something to do with my chipper mood, but it’s been the perfect goodbye to January and a lovely welcome to the next chapter. I share my birthday with the tax deadline, and so the 1st of Feb really is the start of a new season for me, but for a more inclusive post… happy Imbolc.

Imbolc marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox in the Pagan calendar, celebrating the first murmurings of spring. We’ve been blessed with the most glorious sunshine to mark the occasion, alongside delicious food (thanks to a return visit to the amazing The Hidden Hut), the first sightings of little lambs on a country lane, and the awakening feeling of the fresh Atlantic Ocean tickling our toes.

As the mizzle sets in, we’re gearing up to leave our Cornish bolthole and head back to the boat. Although we’re sad to say goodbye to the cosy cottage we’ve been calling home, we’re feeling energised for the month ahead. We’ve had a prolonged break from filming for our YouTube channel… that’s about to change. We’ve got plenty to sort at the allotment, including ordering our plug plants — thanks for all your support last week, by the way! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read on:

And we’ve got some seasonal ingredients we need to experiment with. So, here’s a roundup of what we’re getting on board with this month — and what you might like to as well!
